COLOGNE, Germany — Rodri grabbed an equalizer as Spain and Georgia reached halftime at 1-1 in the round of 16 at the European Championship on Sunday.
Spain conceded a goal for the first time in the tournament in the 18th minute of its game against the lowest-ranked team at Euro 2024.
Defender Robin Le Normand deflected Georgia right back Otar Kakabadze’s cross past his own goalkeeper while under pressure from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Rodri brought Spain back level in the 39th with a low shot from the edge of the box.
The winner goes on to meet host nation Germany in the quarterfinals on Friday in Stuttgart.
