Feeding South Florida® Fights Food Insecurity with Special Events This Spring 


Feeding South Florida® – the leading hunger-relief organization serving Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties – is offering the community ways to help fight food insecurity this Spring. Feeding South Florida will host a series of events, including a Women’s History Month Luncheon, 365K Meal Packing Challenge, Outrun Hunger Broward County, Volunteer Appreciation Week, Tacos & Tequila, Network Miami and more.  

The funds raised will support Feeding South Florida’s mission to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts and transforming lives through innovative programming and education.  

Currently, one in nine individuals in South Florida remains uncertain about where they will get their next meal. Feeding South Florida is experiencing an unprecedented increase in providing nutritious food to over 1.2 million individuals due to inflation, the strained supply chain, rising fuel prices and increased housing costs, among other factors.

Women’s History Month Luncheon | Thursday, March 13, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. 

Feeding South Florida will host a Women’s History Month Luncheon on Thursday, March 13, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at its Palm Beach County warehouse in Boynton Beach. This year’s theme is “Moving Forward Together: Women Educating and Inspiring Generations.” The free event will feature an incredible panel discussion with influential women leaders across industries, diving into experiences and insights on shaping future generations. 

Panelists include WPLG-ABC Local 10 News Morning Anchor Alex Finnie; Health Care District of Palm Beach and Feeding South Florida Advisory Council Member Secretary Tammy Jackson-Moore; Founder and Owner of Inner Power Dynamics Transformational Services Anastasia Mouzina; Truist Assistant Vice President and Financial Inclusion Leader Kristina Ray; and District 6 County Commissioner Sara Baxter. Managing Director of Lifestyle Media Group Kimberly Sarni will serve as the moderator.

365K Meal Packing Challenge | Friday, March 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

On Friday, March 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the community is invited to join Feeding South Florida’s 2025 Q1 365K Corporate Meal Packing Challenge. This is the first of four quarterly challenges in 2025 and is a unique opportunity to make a difference, network with like-minded corporate teams and engage in some friendly competition—all while learning more about food insecurity in South Florida. 

Participants will start the day with light refreshments and snacks, followed by a Lunch and Learn presentation to gain insights into Feeding South Florida’s mission and how volunteer efforts directly impact food insecurity in the community. They’ll enjoy an inspiring talk from a Feeding South Florida special guest.  

Each of Feeding South Florida’s warehouses in Pembroke Park and Boynton Beach will compete to see which team can pack the most pounds of food. Each hour, Feeding South Florida will provide live updates on which location is leading. At the end of the challenge, the winning warehouse will be crowned the 2025 Q1 Champion with a special certificate. 

This free event is open to corporate teams, but space is limited. Feeding South Florida encourages teams to create a virtual fundraiser with a goal of raising $365.

14th Annual Outrun Hunger 5K Broward County, Saturday, April 5, from 6:30 to 9 a.m.  

Miles for meals! Feeding South Florida will host its 14th Annual Outrun Hunger 5K on Saturday, April 5. At an all-new location this year, runners, walkers, families and community leaders of all ages will come together to take steps to raise funds and awareness to end hunger in South Florida at Vista View Park in Davie.  

Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. and the Outrun Hunger 5K will start at 7:30 a.m. An award ceremony will take place after the race. 

Participants can join the event as an individual or a team. Those not participating in the race may also support Feeding South Florida’s mission to fight food insecurity by creating a personalized fundraising page. Volunteer Appreciation Week | Sunday, April 20 to Saturday, April 26, Volunteer Shift Times Vary  

Feeding South Florida’s Volunteer Appreciation Week takes place from Sunday, April 20, through Saturday, April 26. It is a special time for Feeding South Florida to acknowledge its volunteers for all they do. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the organization, providing continuous support for several of Feeding South Florida’s programs.  

Every day, volunteers will receive a special treat of the day, such as cookies, candy or donuts, as a token of appreciation. Volunteers will receive a Hunger Hero certificate and have the opportunity to take photos with special props to highlight service on social media. Contributions will be recognized on the Volunteer Wall of Hunger Heroes, where the volunteers’ photos will be displayed. VIP volunteer gratis bags, including signed thank-you cards, will be distributed. Volunteers will be featured in daily spotlight posts and can enjoy word searches, crossword puzzles and other food bank-themed games. To add to the excitement, each volunteer shift earns a raffle ticket for a chance to win a gift card at the end of the week, with one winner per warehouse.

Tacos & Tequila| Saturday, May 3, from 2 to 6 p.m. 

In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, join Feeding South Florida for “Tacos & Tequila” at its Pembroke Park Warehouse on Saturday, May 3, from 2 to 6 p.m. The outdoor festival will feature tacos, tequila cocktails, live music and family-friendly activities to support the organization’s mission to end hunger in South Florida. 

Guests will enjoy an assortment of delectable tacos and delicious tequila cocktails crafted by some of South Florida’s finest bars, restaurants and food trucks. Participating tequila and culinary partners will compete for the titles of “Best Taco” and “Best Tequila Cocktail.”

Network Miami | Thursday, May 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. 

Feeding South Florida will host Network Miami on Thursday, May 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Quest Workspaces. The free event will include networking with other professionals, drinks and light bites and a tour of Quest Workspaces’ dynamic space. It will be an evening of networking and engagement with Feeding South Florida and Quest Workspaces, where meaningful connections and community impact will come together.
