Alpha3D, an AI-powered platform for 3D asset creation, has acquired MoonlanderAI, an AI-driven game development platform.
This strategic move positions Alpha3D as the world’s first agnostic XR UGC (user-generated content) community, allowing creators to generate, customize, and deploy 3D content seamlessly across any platform.
Alpha3D has been at the forefront of AI-powered 3D content generation, enabling users to transform 2D images or text into high-quality 3D models in minutes. With over 550,000 users and strategic partnerships with industry giants like Nvidia, Google, and Farfetch, the company has rapidly emerged as the go-to platform for developers, brands, and creators looking to scale their 3D content production.
“With this acquisition, we are tearing down the old barriers of user-generated content in XR,” said Madis Alesmaa, CEO of Alpha3D, in a statement. “MoonlanderAI’s mind-blowing AI technology for 3D worlds and game development is the missing link in our master plan to make 3D creation effortless, intuitive, and universal. Together, we’re not just building tools—we’re unlocking a new dimension of creation where anyone, from indie devs to global brands, can shape the future at lightspeed.”
Moonlander has improved game development with its pioneering AI-driven ‘Text-2-Game’ technology. By enabling developers to generate entire 3D worlds and gameplay mechanics in minutes—rather than months—Moonlander has positioned itself as the industry standard for AI-powered game creation. The platform’s Generative Reasoning System (GRS) and deep integration with multiple tools including Unity’s AI tools have already demonstrated up to a 95% reduction in development time, attracting interest from major gaming and XR companies.
This acquisition marks a turning point for the entire XR industry, the companies said. By integrating MoonlanderAI’s AI-driven game generation tools, Alpha3D is not just expanding its platform—it’s absorbing the most advanced AI game creation system on the market. Developers will now have the ability to generate fully interactive 3D experiences faster than ever before, reshaping how immersive worlds are built across any platform such as gaming, metaverse, AR, and VR applications.
“Moonlander was built to redefine what’s possible in 3D and game development,” said Kasem Challiou, CEO of Moonlander, in a statement. “This acquisition isn’t just about collaboration—it’s about changing the entire paradigm of 3D content creation.Together with Alpha3D, we are ushering in a new era where game development is instant, AI-driven, and limitless.”
Alpha3D’s expansion continues to accelerate, with a strong presence in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The company has raised €2 million in funding from leading VCs, Curiosity VC and high-profile investors such as former Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas and Sebastian Borget, cofounder of The Sandbox. The company is well-positioned to lead the next evolution of 3D content creation.
Alpha3D’s mission is clear: to democratize 3D content creation and empower a global community of creators with the tools to shape the future of digital experiences.
Alpha3D was founded in 2018 by serial entrepreneurs Alesmaa and Rait-Eino Laarmann, a duo with over a decade of experience working together and four successful exits each. The company operated in stealth mode until 2022, when it raised its first institutional funding round.
Since emerging from stealth, Alpha3D has quickly gained traction with its AI-powered platform that transforms 2D images or text prompts into high-quality 3D assets in seconds.
Backed by a team of 15 experts with experience at leading tech giants like Skype, Wise, and Bolt, Alpha3D is increasingly being recognized as a market leader in AI-driven 3D content creation.
Moonlander began with the idea of using AI to make 3Dworlds. Challiou, the founder, brought together a team of gaming veterans from the top tier University of Applied Science in Breda and AI/ML engineers to turn this vision into reality. It took us 24 months of extensive R&D and multiple pivots.
Currently, MoonlanderAI is positioned by gaming research companies such as Omdia as the leading solution in the world-building market. Hartman Capital has written a detailed AI gaming report and referenced Moonlander, and 80LV did an in-depth technology analysis of Moonlander’s capabilities.
At its peak, MoonlanderAI worked with a team of 12, pushing machine learning and replicating game creator behavior. As the industry changed, the company adapted and became a more focused team, with AI as the key efficiency drive for more efficient operations.
